Cascade of the different color ways for the Venmo Credit Card
The What
PayPal wanted to put out a new kind of credit card that appealed to the Venmo demographics.
The Why
There was an opportunity to tap into an underserved segment of the market & build an amazing credit card with features specifically catered to the Venmo customer.
The How
UX Methods
Stakeholder Buy-in, User Task Flows, Interaction Design, Prototyping, Usability testing, Visual Design
My Challenge
My challenge was to bring my domain expertise of designing & building credit products from concept to launch for PayPal Credit to the Venmo design team where I would leverage the currency of my current relationships to build bridges between 3 companies with very different cultures & thinking (Synchrony Financial, PayPal & Venmo). I led the UX Design for the Servicing Experience of the Venmo Credit Card.
Customer Needs
The Venmo UER team led consumer research into the customer types around credit
4 quadrants of customer needs: Teach me (highlighted), Reward me, Protect me, and Support me (highlighted)
Teach me
Looking to cultivate good financial habits
Seeking sources of truth to lead the way
Overwhelmed by the volume of financial products
Support me
Tired of data stats around money
Seeking insight around how to be smarter about money management and goals without effort
Ideally, reliant on automated assistance to fill gaps
Information Architecture
I grouped all the features into buckets, highlighting the features that needed to be included in the first release.
